The clit has an estimated 8,000 nerve endings! And all those nerve endings mean that the clitoris has a near-boundless potential for pleasure. But how do you unlock it—for yourself or for your partner?

Brushing up on your clitoral anatomy is a good place to start, but there’s no better way to learn what you or your partner likes than by diving in directly...

Clit Stimulation Techniques

When it comes to clitoral stimulation and masturbation, there are a range of available options. Start with these four basic strategies, and pay attention to which ones feel best; experimenting with different pressures and speeds will help you discover just how to hit your own high note.

1. Circling The Clit

Rubbing the clit using a circular motion is a popular technique for clit stimulation. To try it out, place one or two fingertips on the clitoral hood. Stroke in clockwise circles moving the fingers round and round on the area. Now try stroking in the other direction. Are they both equally pleasurable? Does one direction feel better than the other?

2. Stroke The Clit Using Straight Lines

As before, place one or two fingers on the clitoral hood. This time stroke downwards and then upwards along the clitoral shaft and keep repeating this motion. Now try rubbing from side to side instead. Which do you prefer?

3. Use A Vibrator

Clits like vibration! Try a vibrator that can easily be held against the clit, such as a bullet vibrator. Experiment with different placements to see what feels good. You can also vary the strength of the vibrations and the amount of pressure you use. If you want to mix it up, you could rub the vibrator on your labia and use your finger on your clit, or vice versa. To learn more about vibrators check out the Vibrators O.riginal.

4. Pleasure The Whole Clit

To pleasure the internal structure of the clit, rather than just the head, try putting some lube on your fingertips and slowly rubbing up and down the crease between your outer and inner labia. You could also try using a wide vibrator that covers much of the vulva, which will enable the vibrations to reach the inner structures of the clitoris.

Keep It Slippery!

Lube reduces friction on your clit, which makes it more comfortable to rub (especially if you’re going for a while!). Adding lube can also heighten the sensation of your play. Put some lube on your fingertips and stroke your clit with your lubed up fingers. You can use a store bought lubricant or you can draw wetness up from the vagina to the clit with the tip of your finger.

How To Maximize Your Chance Of Orgasm

Kick off your stimulation session by teasing the clit with varying pressure, rhythm, and speed. This will build excitement and arousal and start moving you closer to a big finish. For most people, as you become more aroused and are nearing orgasm, teasing time is over. At that stage, keep pressure, rhythm, and speed constant. This will maximize pleasure and the chance of having an orgasm.
